Al-Shabaab claims responsibility for Targeting northern election delegation

MOGADISHU (SD) – Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for yesterday’s deadly suicide bombing at the El-gab intersection in Mogadishu, which targeted a delegation electing members of the Somali parliament.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the bombing, which said it targeted four buses carrying delegates from General Kahiye’s compound in Mogadishu.

Al-Shabaab also said in the statement that the blast injured 13 delegates and three police officers.

According to eyewitnesses, the blast hit a bus carrying the delegates, seriously injuring at least eight women.

Amin Ambulance said its transported six dead and 13 wounded victims, according to Amin Ambulance chief Dr. Abdulkadir Abdirahman.

The rhetoric of the women targeted in the blast has been making headlines on Somali social media, since yesterday.
