Al-Shabaab claims responsibility Kenyan soldiers killed in Wajir blast

(SD) – A landmine blast targeted a vehicle carrying Kenyan military and supplies from Weel-caday village in Wajir region on the outskirts of Elwaq district.

It is not yet clear or known how many soldiers were injured in the blast.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the blast, saying it killed 11 Kenyan soldiers in the vehicle attack.

Kenyan troops at the scene could be seen attending and taking up defensive positions and conducting investigations.

Kenyan forces continued their travel to Giriley village on the outskirts of Elwaq district with the remaining forces and supplies.

Kenyan troops patrolling and traveling in North Eastern Province are often targeted by Al Shabab militants opposed to the presence of Kenyan troops in Somalia.
