Kismayo (SD) – A Jubaland security official has been killed in a car bomb blast in the southern port city of Kismayo.
The targeted soldier, identified as Hamdi Mohamed Mohamud, was involved in intelligence operations in Kismayo.
Al Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the blast that killed the Jubbaland security officer, adding that he was the target.
The militant group did not provide details of the operation killing the security officials.
Security forces in Kismayo have launched an investigation into the incident despite the fact that Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
Al-Shabaab militants have been carrying out a series of bombings in recent days, with the latest blasts happening in Mogadishu, and in Baidoa.
