NAIROBI (SD) – Reports from Lamu in Kenya’s North Eastern Province say that a remote-controlled landmine targeted a convoy of Kenyan troops.
The Kenyan troops targeted by a landmine, were on their way to Mangay village near Lamu town, when the vehicle was reportedly hit by a landmine.
A landmine blast has reportedly killed and injured Kenyan troops. Although the exact number of casualties could not be ascertained, there were several shots fired by the Kenyan forces after the blast.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the blast, reporting they killed at least 15 Kenyan soldiers who were in the Military vehicle.
Al-Shabaab militants have claimed responsibility for a series of grenade attacks in Kenya’s north-eastern region of Kismayo in recent weeks.
