JOWHAR (SD) – Al-Shabaab militants executed a Somali National Army soldier in a public square in Gambole area of Jowhar, the capital of Hir-Shabelle region.

Abukar Isaq Isse, 24, was captured by al-Shabaab last year, and was recently executed as some Gambole residents were ordered to watch the shooting.

Al-Shabaab did not say when and where the soldier was captured, but claim he was a Somali government soldier.

On numerous occasions, al-Shabaab has shot dead men and women they accused of spying for the Somali government and its allies in public areas under its control.
