Al Shabaab leader calls on Djiboutians to expel foreigners

Mogadishu (SD) – Al-Shabaab leader Ahmed Diriye Abu Ubaydah recorded an audio message lasting for more than 20 minutes, which he sent to the Djiboutian public.

In a statement released by pro-al-Shabaab media outlets, Abu Ubaydah criticizes the government led by President Ismail Omar Guelleh in Djibouti.

“In general, the Muslim tribes in Djibouti, your country is home to France and the United States, the people of Djibouti should know, that the outgoing government of Ismail Omar Guelleh is one of the biggest enemies of Muslims in East Africa. Ismail Omar Guelleh made it possible for East African Muslims to be attacked from your country, Djibouti, especially in Somalia, ”said Abu Ubaydah.

Abu Ubaydah acknowledged that al-Shabaab had been hit by a series of airstrikes from Western military bases in Djibouti.

Abu Ubaydah talked about the Djiboutian troops in Somalia as part of AMISOM, known to the Somali people and government as “Hiil-walaal”, and said that they are putting a lot of pressure on the stability of the country.

“We call on the people of Djibouti to overthrow the rule of Ismail Omar Guelleh. It is your duty to expel your country from France, which has always insulted our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” added al-Shabaab militia leader Ahmed Diriye Abu Ubaydah.

Abu Ubaydah said president Guelleh leadership led Djibouti to a severe lack of progress, including the worst repression ever.

The Djiboutian government has not commented on the Al Shabaab leader’s remarks.
