Mogadishu (SD) – The administration of the Police Division of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) receive eleven donated vehicles meant to enhance security operations in the country.
The donation included five armored vehicles and six Toyota Land cruisers, provided by the United Nations Support Office for Somalia (UNSOS).
These vehicles will mostly be used to support AMISOM Police Units working with the Somali Police Force.
Deputy Special Representative and Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC) for Somalia, Simon Mulongo, handed over the vehicles to AMISOM Police Commissioner and Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Augustine Magnus Kailie.
The Somali Police Force will take the lead in securing the elections, with AMISOM Police playing a key role, to ensure the process is safe and secure.
