MOGADISHU An armed group last night launched an attack with heavy gunfire targeting the Steel Factory located in the Daynile district of Mogadishu, where Somali Federal Government troops were stationed.
The exact casualties from the attack remain unknown, as there has been no official statement yet from the government or security agencies.
The Steel Factory, one of the key facilities in Dayniile, was reportedly evacuated of civilians after the government took control of the area.
A local resident who spoke to Risaala Media described last night as “a night of intense fear,” adding:
“Heavy gunfire started around 3:00 PM, and we felt extreme panic. The area attacked was inhabited by civilians who had been displaced. This morning, the situation has calmed down,” said one of the residents.
