Garowe (SD) – The President of Puntland State of Somalia, Said Abdullahi Deni, addressed politicians and members of the public at the PDRC forum, focusing on the country’s current political situation.
Said Deni revealed that Farmajo believes in ruling the country by military force, citing the attacks in Baidoa, Beled-hawo, Dhusamareb, Daljirka Dahsoon, and the attack on former presidents Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who democratically handed over power to him on February 16, 2017.
“Farmajo called me and asked me, what happened, February 8th passed. Where are the Hawiye you said would climb the walls of Villa Somalia? Deni said.
President Deni said the outgoing president could not be trusted in light of the events of February 19th in Mogadishu, and that he would not take a decision that would not be acceptable to all Somalis, and expressed grave concern over Farmajo’s plans could lead to a civil war, just like the 1980s.
“I rejected Farmajo as a Darood and I agreed with Ahmed Madobe as a Somali, but unfortunately, the Hawiye regional administrations excepted the Daroodism I rejected.” said Deni.
The President of Puntland urged the people of Puntland and Somalia to work to together in saving the nation and preserve the unity of the country, with Puntland playing its part.
