Explosion targets AMISOM troops in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (SD) – A convoy of AMISOM troops was targeted by a landmine this morning near the Turkish Mosque between Fagah Square and Jamhuuriya neighborhood in Karaan district.

Eyewitness report added that after the explosion, AMISOM troops opened in response to the attack.

As many as four civilians have been confirmed injured by local media in the gunfire that followed the African Union Mission troops in Mogadishu, victims are a father, his wife, a daughter and a boy who own a pharmacy where the blast took place.

AMISOM forces often criticized for indiscriminate firing in civilians areas, specially after an attack from insurgence groups who often time launch these attacks in heavily populated districts.

It is the second bomb blast in Mogadishu in less than 24 hours, and yesterday a suicide bomber struck near a police training school, killing at least five people and wounding eight others, including soldiers and civilians.
