Farmaajo to seek a second term in office

MOGADISHU (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has tonight for the first time confirmed that he will seek a second term of the presidency of Somalia.

In a brief video statement, President Farmajo said he decided to run again for the presidency of Somalia and continue to bring about change in the country.

The President also called on members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament to vote and help continue the reforms he said were ongoing.

President Farmajo also appealed to the Somali people to support re-election in the interest of the people as he said.

Farmajo went on to praise the electoral process in the country, noting that the presidential election is on an historic day.

The Somali president’s remarks come as candidates are registering and campaigning for the presidency in Mogadishu.
