ERIGAO (SD) – A fierce battle lasting several hours and now in its third day is ongoing in the Sanag region, specifically in the town of Erigavo, the region’s capital.

The fighting between SSC Khatumo forces and Somaliland forces has resulted in deaths and injuries, and the situation in the town has become very chaotic.

Terrifying footage has emerged from inside Erigavo, showing heavy shelling on residential neighborhoods, causing widespread destruction.

The battle occurred while civilians were in the town, leading to injuries and deaths among them due to the shelling and direct attacks.

Both Somaliland and SSC Khaatumo have blamed each other for the conflict, each claiming the right to govern the region. The situation has become dire, with both sides basing their fight on political aspirations, military power, and territorial claims.

SSC Khaatumo forces are reported to have captured significant parts of Erigavo, with footage showing them controlling key checkpoints in the town.

According to informed sources, SSC Khatumo has claimed control over important areas of the town, while Somaliland forces are reportedly defending the city.

The situation in Erigavo is deteriorating, with the fighting causing significant displacement in some neighborhoods. Many civilians have been forced to flee their homes, suffering considerable loss of life and property.
