Former PM criticizes electoral process

MOGADISHU (SD) – Former Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, who was addressing the Somali community living in South Africa, strongly criticized the government’s attempt to impose a one-person, one-vote electoral model.

Roble revealed that his opposition to the policies of former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo remains unchanged under the current President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Roble also emphasized that an election cannot proceed without consensus, stating that the electoral process cannot be managed in the same way as herding camels.

During his speech at the event held in his honor, Roble mentioned that his trip to South Africa faced significant challenges, but he made it clear that these challenges would not deter him from his stance.

Additionally, Roble stated that upon his return to Somalia, he will hold the Federal Government accountable, citing a Somali proverb: “If someone throws a stone at you, they may not hit you, but they have shown their hostility.”
