Dhusamareb (SD) – Reports from Galgadud region in central Somalia say that Galmudug state forces and the Somali National Army have this morning moved to the outskirts of Dhusamareb town.
The troops have reportedly launched an operation against Al-Shabaab militants seen in the outskirts of the Galmudug capital Dhusamareb.
The objective of these operations is reportedly to secure the regions, as well as to prevent Al-Shabaab from launching attacks out of the region.
Local sources told media that the allied forces have reached areas east of Dhusamareb and are conducting heavy operations.
Galmudug’s new military operations come in the wake of a mortar attack on a plane carrying Galmudug President Ahmed Qoor-Qoor inside Dhusamareb airport recently.
Al-Shabaab has intensified its attacks on Dhusamareb in recent months, previously ousted by Ahlu Sunna Wal-Jamaa.
