Mogadishu (SD) – Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye hosted a dinner meeting at his residence in Mogadishu tonight for the union of Somalia’s presidential candidates.
Galmudug President Ahmed Qoor-Qoor arrived in Mogadishu hours before the dinner.
Qoor-Qoor shortly after arriving in Mogadishu met with United Nations Special Representative James Swan.
The President of Galmudug State of Somalia Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor also met with the US Ambassador to Somalia Mr. Yamamoto.
The President of Galmudug, the US ambassador and the UN Special Representative for Somalia, discussed the international community’s efforts to convene a conference to finalize the country’s electoral process.
They also discussed the efforts of the international community to convene a conference to finalize the electoral process, in particular the agreement reached on 17 September 2020 in Mogadishu and the meetings of the technical committees in Baidoa on 16 February 2021.
The meeting is a prelude to general meetings to discuss electoral issues, according to sources with knowledge of the meetings.
The dinner was also attended by the President of HirShabelle State Ali Gudlawe.
