London (SD) – Somaliland Foreign Minister Isse Kayd Mohamud responded to reports by some Ethiopian media outlets that Somaliland has supported the fight against the TPLF in Ethiopia.
Issa Kayd Mohamud told the BBC that Somaliland welcomes anything that could bring peace to the ongoing civil war in Ethiopia.
The minister noted that Somaliland is neutral in the ongoing war in Ethiopia, and ruled out that Somaliland supported Ethiopia’s war against the TPLF.
The Minister said that the President of Somaliland only discussed with the visiting President of the Somali Regional State Mustafa Muhumed Omar security, trade and strengthening bilateral relations.
The Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) recently reported that the talks between the President of Somaliland and the President of the Somali Regional State included Somaliland’s support for the Ethiopian government’s fight against the TPLF.
“Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi Also Expressed Support For The Ethiopian Government’s Law Enforcement Operation In The North Of The Country, According To Information Obtained From The Somali Regional State Communications Office Of Ethiopia,” The EBC Reported.
A delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland is currently on a visit to the United Kingdom, having previously visited Kenya and the United States.
