MOGADISHU (SD) – Hirshabelle authorities have vowed to intensify the fight against al-shabaab terror group following a roadside blast along Mogadishu-Jowhar road.
In a statement, Hirshabelle president, Ali Gudlawe who condemned the attack said Somali forces will soon launch operation secure the main supply route of the state.
“We extend our condolences to the family and relatives of Yasin Abdi Tohow who served the army long time. We will defeat these terrorists and secure our roads,” he said.
The remarks of the leader after two people including Tohow, were killed in a roadside bomb that targeted a military vehicle near Gololey on the outskirts of Bal’ad, an agricultural town 40 kilometers (24 miles) from the capital, Mogadishu.
Through a statement posted on its affiliate online media, al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack and said it killed the commander and wounded more than five other soldiers.
The attack comes less than a week after 17 civilians were killed and several other wounded in IED blast in vicinity.
