Mogadishu (SD) – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia James Swan , discussed Somalia’s election dispute issues with the Foreign Ministers of Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti and Uganda.
James Swan and the foreign ministers of Somalia’s neighbors discussed ways to avoid political crises in the volatile country.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) has issued a statement regarding the discussions on his Twitter account.
The UN envoy’s efforts come at a time when Somali political sides are yet to manage to agree on a city to hold discussions regarding their election process disagreement.
It is noteworthy that the UN representative spoke with Kenyan Foreign Minister about ways to hold elections in Somalia, a country that Somalia severed all diplomatic ties over political meddling.
The term of the Somali government has come to an end, as a conference called by the President of Somalia is set to take place on the 15th of this month, to the country’s member states.
