Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland Lawmaker Barkhad Jama Batun today announced that he is sponsoring a number of vulnerable students in in his district Daami.

“It is an honor for me to resume my work today at the hut I used as a Parliamentary Election Campaign Office, for a second Hargeisa Scholarship Campaign for students who could not afford to study.” Said Barkhad Batun.

Lawmaker Barkhad Batun said he will pay the 100 students in Daami their full educational cost.

“I will personally shoulder these Hundred boys and Girls educational costs, through middle and high school and will not except donations from companies or individuals” Barkhad said.

“I pray to God to make them leaders who will contribute to the development of their country and people, Insha Allah.” The Lawmaker said.

Barkhad Batun who is from a marginalized community in Somaliland recently won his seat in the House of Representatives with the highest vote count in the country.
