Mayor Mooge takes office and calls for Somalis to invest in Hargeisa

Hargeisa (SD) – The new mayor of Hargeisa, Abdikarin Ahmed Mooge, has taken over from former mayor Abdirahman Mohamud Aided (Soltelco).

The handover ceremony took place at a tent built on the western outskirts of Hargeisa and was attended by a large number of people and officials.

Former Mayor of Hargeisa Abdirahman SOLTELCO talked about his accomplishments during his tenure, highlighting challenges the city continues to face.

SOLTELCO said he has improved health, roads, and his greatest achievement would be establishing the Hargeisa Fire Brigade.

The incoming mayor of Hargeisa, Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge, said he will carry out his mandate. “It is a fact that the campaign is over and work has begun,” he said.

The new mayor of Hargeisa Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge has called on the Somali community to invest in Somaliland, especially in the capital Hargeisa.

“We will bring people together In Somaliland so they can make a living. We are building a beautiful Somaliland that can host other Somalis in Hargeisa.” Said Mayor Mooge.

Mayor Mooge continued “Somalis’ Investment goes to Kenya, Ethiopia and the world but we say you belong here and come, we can leave together, built together and God willing we can make this city beautiful together”.

Mooge also said he would protect taxpayers funds and said there would be no corruption.

The people of Hargeisa, who were highly critical of the previous council, have high hopes for the new council and its mayor, Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge.
