Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia says the newly elected President of Somaliland, is a patriot

MOGADISHU (SD) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, stated that the newly elected President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Irro, is a person with a strong sense of Somali nationalism, which brings hope for the future of dialogue between the two sides.

Fiqi urged the leaders of Somaliland to play an active role in bringing the Somali people closer together, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to resolve the issues that have caused the separation between the two sides.

The Minister also mentioned that he strongly opposed the policies of the former President of Somaliland, which had hindered previous cooperation.

However, Fiqi expressed hope that the new change could lead to fruitful negotiations.

Furthermore, Fiqi firmly denied viewing the people of Somaliland as enemies. He pointed out that there are politicians working to create division between the two sides, which he described as a disruption to ongoing peace efforts.

Finally, the Minister called for vigilance against false information that could damage the prospects for dialogue.
