National Electoral Consultative Conference to conclude on Thursday

Mogadishu (SD) – The National Electoral Consultative Conference in Mogadishu has yielded good results, and the conference will close on Thursday, according to Somali government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu.

Moalimu said understanding at the conference is improving day by day and the leaders have shown maturity in how they want an agreement be reached on the country’s elections.

“The prime minister has always been at the center of the talks and has been working day and night to make the conference a success,” said government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu.

A government spokesman said the ambiguities on election security had been removed, which had been previously raised as a concern by stakeholders.

The international community commended the conference and urged the participating leaders to show restraint and put the interests of the Somali people first.
