Northerners divided over PM Roble’s Role in their Elections

MOGADISHU (SD) – Speaker of Somalia’s Upper House Abdi Hashi Abdullahi and King Osman Ow Mohamud Burmadow with the support of politicians from the northern regions of Somalia, said today that they had boycotted the Somalia’s elections, accusing Prime Minister Roble of interference.

The Speaker Hashi demanded that the disputed seats from the Northern regions be stopped.

It is important to conduct the election according to the agreed upon process. We call on the Prime Minister and the people who engaged in the election to halt. “said Abdi Hashi.

King Osman Burmadow proclaimed they have boycotted the election, signaling to the International partners ant the NCC to intervene.

Deputy Prime Minister Mohamed Guled and other prominent Northern politicians defended prime ministers of Role, calling the allegations baseless.

“ What happened at Abdi Hashi’s house was contrary to the Somalia tradition, and we apologies to the PM and his clan” said the Deputy PM.

Deputy Prime Minister welcomes the role of prime minister in the Northern elections, denying any interference.

The Office of Prime Minister Role has not yet commented on the allegations.
