MOGADISHU (SD) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia, welcomed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during his official working visit to Somalia.
This visit, which follows a series of bilateral meetings held in recent months, aims to strengthen the two-sided relationship between the two nations.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation for the mutual benefit of their people. Acknowledging the deep historical ties between their peoples and their shared border, they emphasized the importance of building trust through strengthened diplomatic, economic, and social collaboration.
Ethiopia and Somalia are interdependent nations with a shared vision for regional stability and prosperity. Building on this, the two leaders demonstrated their determination to implement key infrastructure development projects to ensure sustainable growth, economic integration, and stronger people-to-people ties.
Furthermore, the leaders welcomed the launch of technical talks in Ankara, as agreed in the Ankara Declaration, expressing their commitment to constructive dialogue and cooperation.
The President and Prime Minister also welcomed the agreement reached between the leaders of the Somali National Army (SNA) and the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF), viewing it as a significant step toward enhancing security cooperation and regional stability.
