Mogadishu (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble today held separate meetings in his office in Villa Somalia with members of the international community.
Prime Minister Roble today received EU Ambassador to Somalia Nicolas Berlanga and Norwegian Special Envoy Heidi Elburgi.
“H.E Prime Minister Mohamed Roble has held on Sunday separate meetings with the EU Ambassador to Somalia Nicolas Berlanga & Norwegian Special Envoy Heidi Johansen & discussed with the country’s election development and strengthening cooperation.” confirmed Spokesperson Mohamed Moalimuu.
Roble briefed Nicolas and Heidi on the state of the country’s election efforts, some of which are expected to take place at the end of July.
The ambassadors also thanked the Prime Minister for his efforts to hold a free and fair election in the country.
“Rebuilding trust about elections: I praised the initiative of Jubaland to start the Upper House process. I hope other FMS will follow soon. PM Roble’s role to encourage reconciliation and propose solutions about the pending issues is essential. The EU is committed to assist him” the EU ambassador said
Somalia is now in an election mode, the election of members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia will begin in the coming days, according to the recent election timetable released by the FIET Federal Electoral Commission.
