Mogadishu (SD) – The Bari Regional Police conducted a security operation in Bossaso, with security forces sweeping some neighborhoods, vehicles and suspected places.

The operation was led by Bari Regional Police Commander Hussein Ali Mohamud, troops raided some neighborhoods and hotels and arrested suspects, according to the command.

Operations have been carried out in downtown Bossaso and many other parts of the city to tighten security.

During the operation, the Puntland security forces arrested people involved in security breaches.

The operation comes as the country enters an election season, and security agencies in Bari region are on high alert as Bossaso is one of the cities where Somalia’s lower house of parliament will be held.
