Mogadishu (SD) – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, today met with US Ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto.
President Deni received the US Ambassador at his residence in Mogadishu, where the two officials held a private meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to resolve the dispute over Somalia’s electoral process, according to sources close to the Puntland president.
Also discussed were the upcoming conference on election process in Mogadishu in the coming days between the Federal Government, regional governments and the Benadir region.
Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni also met with the United Nations and African Union envoys to Somalia James Swan and Francisco Madeira, the President is said to have discussed election process with the envoys.
Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni’s meetings with theses leaders comes at a time when no agreement has yet been reached on the country’s electoral system.
