Mogadishu (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, in a speech on the final decision of the (ICJ) maritime case, congratulated the Somali people as a whole on the successful efforts to defend the country’s borders.
The President noted that Somalia has faced many diplomatic challenges in confirming the historical success, accusing the Kenyan government in taking steps to disrupt the process of the maritime case, and preferring to make a deal in a dark room.
“We sworn to protect the responsibility trusted on us by the Somali people, our conscience will never allow us to sell-out the next generations inheritance for political and economic interests.
The president attributed the success on the long-term pressure from the Somali people and the Somali government, by ensuring the success of the legal case against the Kenyan leadership’s desire to grab Somali territory.
“The right side won, law and order won, the Somali people have always been the shield and supported their leaders and government. I thank the ICJ for upholding the rule of law. This judgment is a beautiful sign of transparency and competency of the ICJ.
The president thanked the heroes that fought for the historic win, starting with the 8th parliament for their stance, former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and lawyers Dr. Muna Sharmani and may the rest in peace Eng. Mohamed Omar Salilihi, lawyers and experts from the Folily Hoag and the Federal Government’s Maritimes case committee.
