MOGADISHU (SD) -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a speech at the Italy-Africa Conference, highlighting the promising future of Somalia, the opportunities for economic growth, and the overall benefits that international cooperation can bring to the country and the world.
The President acknowledged the challenges facing the Somali government and the negative impact on the Somali people, pointing out that efforts are being made to address issues related to governance and the well-being of the citizens. The President mentioned specific initiatives, including joining the Eastern African Community, combating piracy, and enhancing debt relief programs.
The president pointed out that international cooperation depends on respecting the rule of law and the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries.
The President’s statement comes at a time when there is political tension between Somalia and Ethiopia as a result of a maritime agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.
