President Hassan explains Somalia’s stance on achieving a lasting peace solution in the Middle East.

RIYADH (SD) The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a speech at the extraordinary summit of Arab states and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, addressing the humanitarian situation faced by the people of Palestine and Lebanon.

In his speech, President Hassan Sheikh highlighted the extent of the losses suffered by the innocent civilians of Palestine and Lebanon, the indiscriminate massacres, and the destruction of vital infrastructure. He presented Somalia’s stance on achieving a lasting peace solution in the Middle East.

“The issue of Gaza is deeper than politics and ideologies; it is rooted in human rights, dignity, and justice. A lasting peace solution in the Middle East can only be achieved through the establishment of a Palestinian state with the 1967 borders, and Jerusalem as its capital.”

The President called on the leaders participating in the summit and the international community to take joint immediate actions to deliver urgent aid to the affected people. He also suggested the implementation of an immediate ceasefire and a return to the negotiation table.
