President Hassan speaks to Arab allies about regional developments

MOGADISHU (SD) -The President of Egypt, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, has pledged support for Somalia, expressing his commitment amidst the dispute arising from the Memorandum of Understanding between Somaliland and Ethiopia.

In a recent telephone conversation with the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, al-Sisi stated that Egypt demonstrates a friendly stance by showcasing security and stability in Somalia, according to al-Sisi’s spokesperson, Ahmed Famy.

The spokesperson further explained that the two leaders discussed regional developments and bilateral relations.

The president of Somalia also spoke on the phone with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad, discussing the relations between the two countries and issues of mutual interest, as stated by the Somali presidency.

The European Union also commented on the memorandum of understanding between Somaliland and Ethiopia, calling for respect for the unity, sovereignty, borders, and the territory integrity of Somalia.
