Puntland Police Force opens fire on Demonstrators

Garowe (SD) – Members of the Puntland State Police force opened fire on civilians demonstrating today in central Garowe, Puntland’s capital.

The forces, who are said to be part of the Nugal Regional Police Unit, opened fire on some people who were demonstrating against taxes, while the others were in Garowe Square, three women were injured in the incident, two of them seriously.

One of the women, who was shot in the head and was in critical condition, was reportedly airlifted to Mogadishu.

The other two injured women are also being treated at Garowe hospital, and one of them is pregnant, with serious injuries to her leg, causing her to loose lots of blood.

The regional government and its Police force involved in indecent are yet to publicly address the situation.
