BOSSASO (SD) – The President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, delivered a speech last night regarding the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, revealing that there are traditional elders, businessmen, and religious scholars in Puntland’s cities who are collaborating with the terrorist group Daesh (ISIS).
“I want to send a message here to the Somali people in Puntland who are working with the terrorist group Daesh, those who are in cities not directly involved in the frontlines of the war but are providing support, financial assistance, recruitment, and even opening businesses for the group.”
“I call on these individuals to contact the security agencies within seven nights, withdraw from these activities, and publicly declare their disassociation. We have their lists, we know their names, and I warn them that if they do not come forward within these seven days, we will take legal action against them,” said Puntland President Said Deni.
“These individuals include members of the traditional community, religious scholars, and businessmen. There are also various influential figures within the community whom I will not name here. We want to give them this opportunity; only Allah does not make mistakes. Anyone who repents from their mistakes will be forgiven by the government,” Deni added.
