Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland’s ruling party Kulmiye has announced that some of their candidates vying for the upcoming elections are arrested.

Kulmiye party spokesperson Abdinasir Buni told the media today that some of their candidates are being held in Caynaba and Borama.

“I want to tell the people of Somaliland that Kulmiye party candidates are arrested in Caynaba and Awdal.” Said the spokesperson.

The Kulmiye party spokesman accused the opposition of disrespecting the Somaliland forces.

“No party will be allowed to tarnish the image of the national army and the vulnerable, the men who spoke on behalf of these parties should apologize to the national army.

Adding “There is no place in the world where people say there is no army and no government and yet Daami neighborhood in Somaliland where you call home at night is a safe and its not where its troops are insulted.”

The spokesman who held a press conference in Hargeisa also responded to UCID party chairman Faisal Ali Warabe’s criticism of president Bihi.

“Chairman Faysal, you should know that President Muse is one of the three elected presidents of Somaliland, you are insulting the intelligence of the people every time you say there is no government” said Mr. Buni.
