Mogadishu (SD) – Reports from Lower Shabelle region in southwestern Somalia say that a senior Al-Shabaab officials were killed in an airstrike last night.
The shelling, carried out jointly by Somali forces and their international allies, targeted a compound where officers were stationed in the villages of Tawakal and Ugunji under Janale in the Lower Shabelle region.
Somali military officials spoke to state media confirmed that three Al-Shabaab militants were killed in an airstrike, among them were Khalid Abdullahi, a tax official, and Moalim Yusuf, a security official in the Lower Shabelle region.
Somali military officials have not say specifically the partners that helped in the latest attack that killed the Al-Shabaab officials.
The attack comes at a time when that US troops are returning to Somalia.
Al Shabaab has not yet commented on the attack that allegedly killed three senior officials in Lower Shabelle.
