ASMARA (SD) – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accompanied by the President of Eritrea, today visited Somalia troops at a military training camp in Asmara.

The troops have been a source of controversy for the past administration over their safety amid rumors that they have taken part in the Tigrean war.

On the day of his inauguration, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud promised to repatriate Somali troops who were undergoing training in Eritrea.

However, it is not clear what will happen following the president’s visit as to when the troops will return home.
