Somali Prime Minister speaks with US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs

Mogadishu (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble, today spoke by telephone with US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Phee.

Roble and Molly Phee discussed a number of issues, including the current political situation in the country, security and the ongoing parliamentary elections.

According to reports, PM Roble briefed the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Phee on the dispute between Farmajo and his subordinates.

Roble has made it clear to the US government that the outgoing president does not want free and fair elections in the country and wants to intervene in the election to get the members he wants.

The United States is calling the Somali government officials, particularly Farmajo and Roble, to defuse tensions and work for credible elections.
