MOGADISHU (SD)-The Somali government has issued an official statement regarding the weapons recently seized in the town of Abudwak, located in the Galgadud region.
The Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused the Ethiopian government of being behind the arms that came into the possession of the people of Caabudwaaq. Federal Government troops initially intercepted these weapons while they were entering the country.
Somalia has also called on Ethiopia to halt its interference and illegal arms shipments into Somalia, as stated in the official statement from Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The recent seizure of weapons from government troops by the residents of Abudwak has intensified pressure on President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration, which has been accused of failing to control the influx of illegal arms into the country.
