Somalia: Aden Adde altercation to be investigated

Mogadishu (SD) – Fighting erupted between security forces and members of the Immigration and Nationality Agency inside Aden Adde International Airport.

According to reports, the altercation took place at the immigration checkpoint, the two sides are said to have been involved in a jurisdiction dispute.

According to reports, the clashes erupted after foreigners at the airport were stopped by the Immigration Department and were interrupted by security personnel, which led to an argument between the two sides.

Fighting between NISA forces and Immigration and Nationality Agency staff resulted in the destruction of airport offices as well as other equipment.

The reasons behind the clash between NISA forces and immigration officials at Aden Adde International Airport is still unknown.

Mohamed Hussein Roble, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, said that the tragic incident at Aden Adde International Airport was unacceptable.

Prime Minister Roble instructed the Ministry of Security and other relevant agencies to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident and bring all those involved to justice immediately.

Officials from NISA and the Immigration and Nationality Agency are currently at Aden Adde International Airport to investigate the cause.

Somalis and foreign travelers at the checkpoint were seen leaving shocked by what happened at the airport.
