MOGADISHU (SD) -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, laid a wreath at the SYL Monument in commemoration of Somali Youth Day on May 15, honoring the young independence fighters of the Somali Youth League (SYL).
The Governor of the Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale), participated in the flower-laying ceremony, which marks the founding day of the SYL youth who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Somali nation.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Youth, the Chief of the Somali Police Force, the Deputy Governor of Banaadir for Security and Politics, several Members of Parliament, and other officials.
In his speech at the May 15 celebration, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasized the importance of Somali youth, urging them to continue playing their role in defending and rebuilding the country. He also called on the youth to lead efforts towards establishing a one-person, one-vote election system in Somalia.
