MOGADISHU (SD) -The Federal Government of Somalia has issued a new statement regarding the ongoing diplomatic tensions with Ethiopia, following the recent failure of negotiations between the two countries in Turkey.
Somalia’s Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Fardowsa Cismaan Cigaal, spoke to the media in Mogadishu, emphasizing that Somalia’s stance remains unchanged. She stated that Somalia expects Ethiopia to retract its mistakes and issue an apology, after which legal channels should resolve the matter.
She further clarified that Ethiopia is responsible for the mistakes and violations that have occurred, but expressed hope that Ethiopia will correct its past actions.
This statement comes after the recent talks in Ankara between Somalia and Ethiopia ended without a resolution, although both sides agreed to reconvene for a third round of negotiations next month.
