MOGADISHU (SD) – The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama, held a meeting today (Thursday) to discuss accelerating the fight against terrorism, commend the achievements of the armed forces, and issue several decisions related to security.
The Council of Ministers made significant decisions applicable to all Somali citizens, with many involving legal measures and various penalties. The decisions include:
Legal Reminders: Citizens were reminded that the misuse or fabrication of information, whether directly or indirectly, through various media platforms, including social media, is prohibited. Those found violating this will face legal actions, including court trials and severe penalties.
Property Use for Criminal Activities: Allowing one’s home, business premises, or vehicle to be used for activities that threaten national security is considered participation in terrorist acts. Such actions will result in strict legal penalties, including confiscation of property used in terrorist activities.
Public Warning: The Ministry of Internal Security (DFS) warned citizens to avoid areas where Khawaarij extremists are active, as the government has decided to intensify air and ground operations against these groups to protect civilians.
Airport Security: It was decided that no weapons or military vehicles would be allowed inside the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu. Detailed guidelines on implementing this decision will be issued soon by the security agencies.
