MOGADISHU (SD) – The joint committee of Somalia’s bicameral parliament for the presidential election has this afternoon finalized the registration of presidential candidates.

The commission said in a statement that it had registered 39 candidates in the last three days, all of whom had met the required criteria.

The commission added that the Aficio Tent will start hearing candidates’ speeches tomorrow, and will run until Thursday.

Speeches by 39 candidates for the presidency will begin tomorrow, and will run until May 12, 2022.

On the first day 20 candidates will give speeches, while on the second day 19 candidates will be allowed 15 minutes of speeches.

The presidential elections are set for May 15, 2022 at Aviation Camp in Halane.
