MOGADISHU (SD) – Ninety-seven Somali migrants have been returned to Somalia, the country’s foreign ministry confirmed Wednesday.

In a statement, the ministry said the migrants who had been jailed in Libya were helped to come home following interventions from the Somali government and the International Organisation of Migration (IOM).

Among those arrived at Aden Adde International Airport are five women.

The returnees were received at the airport by foreign Minister Abdi Said Muse Ali, IOM officials and other senior government officials.
