Somalia: Suicide bomber attacks Turkish Military barracks

MOGADISHU (SD) – A suicide bombing carried out by an individual targeted the Turkish military training camp in the Wadajir district, particularly the road to Jazeera neighborhood.

According to the information obtained, the perpetrator of the attack reportedly aimed to blend in with a group of young recruits, aspiring to become part of the new Somali military forces undergoing training.

The individual who carried out the suicide bombing had apparently managed to infiltrate the gathering of young recruits. After suspicions arose among the security forces, he detonated himself before being thoroughly searched, resulting in his own death.

Additionally, four other individuals, predominantly among the youth attending the military training, sustained injuries.

Al-Shabaab has frequently claimed responsibility for suicide attacks targeting the military, often involving individuals posing as aspiring recruits.
