Mogadishu(SD) – The Electoral Commission of the Northern Regions of Somalia (SEIT) released the election schedule list of 9 seats in the House of the People to be held in the coming days in Mogadishu.

The statement from the Northern Regions Electoral Commission was addressed to the Federal Electoral Commission, stating that the nine seats will be up for grabs.

The Electoral Commission has called on the traditional elders of the northern regions selecting the delegates to come to their polling stations tomorrow and submit the list of delegates who will elect these seats.

The Northern Electoral Commission has already held elections for the first two seats in the House of the People.

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble welcomed the announcement of the new timetable for the election of the nine seats to take place this week.

The announcement came as the election of the Upper House seats was completed yesterday across the country and today’s move is a sign of the progress in the country’s long awaited Lower House elections.
