Burao (SD) – A conference focused on strengthening security and social mobility between Somaliland and the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia was held in Burao.
The day long conference focused on strengthening security, movement of people on both sides and the fight against drugs.
The conference was attended by the Governor of Togdher region Mohamed Diriye Hayd, the mayor of Burao and the deputy governor of Daad-madheed region.
The Somali Ethiopian regional government was represented at the conference by ministers, military officials and the Jarar regional administration leaders.
The conference also discussed ways to remove landmines buried at Togdher, Daad-madheed and Jarar borders of the two regions. The two sides also signed an extradition treaty.
The leaders from Somaliland and the Somali regional state who attended the conference agreed to appoint a joint committee to further improve their bilateral agreements.
