Somaliland blames government for Mogadishu clashes, sends message to public

Berbera (SD) – Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi speaking in Berbera today said he was deeply saddened by the current situation in Mogadishu and the recent fighting there.

Muse Bihi said that Somaliland is saddened by the suffering and displacement of the people of the Capital by the Mogadishu-based government. The President said they have a lot of respect for the people of Somalia but widely disagree with their politicians for opposing Somaliland’s independence.

“Today we were very worried and shocked when we saw the resumption of fighting in Mogadishu, and the blame lies with the government, which at the end of its term has refused to listen to the people.” Said President Bihi.

President Bihi also said that the people of Somalia have been suffering for four years under this regime but Somaliland have been dealing with similar situation for the past thirty years.

Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi has said that the people of Somalia and Somaliland do not hate each other but have different political interests.

Meanwhile, UCID Chairman Faisal Ali Warabe, congratulated the people and army of Mogadishu on their uprising against the extension of President Farmajo’s government.

The Chairman Faisal said he welcomed the end of the term of the outgoing president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, and congratulated Mogadishu officials and troops for opposing Farmajo’s ambitions.

Chairman Faisal, was one of the main opponents of the government of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
