Hargeisa (SD) – The Electoral Commission and the three National Parties of Somaliland, today signed an election code of conduct agreement, which will be implemented by the parties during the elections.

The ceremony of signing the Code of Conduct held in Hargeisa was hosted and organized by SONSAF, a Civil Society Umbrella in Somaliland.

Chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Eng. Abdirashid M. Ali, Speaking at the forum, highlighted the importance of the Code of Conduct for the upcoming election.

The also thanked the NEC officials and lawyers, officials of the National Parties and SONSAF as well as all the various parties working with the Commission.

Opposition parties in Somaliland have urged the electoral commission and the government to fully implement the agreement

At the conclusion of the event in Hargeisa, all parties expressed their optimism, expressing their commitment to work together in the implementation of the JSL elections on 31 May 2021.
