Hargeisa (SD) – The Somaliland National Electoral Commission has rejected some of the local council candidates of the three national parties, for not meeting the requirements of the local council candidacy.
Sources close to the National Electoral Commission and the National Parties confirmed to Foore newspaper that about 28 candidates for the local council elections have been removed by the Commission.
According to reports, the Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) has been working hard in recent days to verify the credentials of the party candidates for the local councils.
Although there are government agencies such as the Higher Education Commission, which verifies the requirements of a university degree required of Candidates. However, it appears that the Commission has launched a rigorous investigation into the compliance of the candidates in this regard, as a result, these candidates were rejected.
On Monday, March 30, the last day for candidates to submit their credentials to their parties and subsequently to the National Electoral Commission (NEC), making the timelines thither then some hopefuls would like.
